WORKFACT WEDNESDAY: Millennials at Work

The odds are good that there’s a millennial sitting ”or standing ”at a desk near you right now. Or maybe you are one yourself. That’s because millennials are the largest generation currently active in the workforce. We focused our latest research on understanding how millennials feel about their school-to-work transition and career prospects ”as well as the negative stereotypes they have to confront.

According to the Udemy in Depth: 2018 Millennials at Work report, millennials aren’t that different from anyone else. What sets them apart in a work setting, however, may be their insistence that the working world is overdue for change. This generation wants to control their own destinies, finds satisfaction in a blend of professional and personal pursuits, and is willing to put in the hard work to reach their goals.

42% say L&D is the most important benefit (after salary) when deciding where to work

67% think there’s a gap between what they’re capable of and what employers believe they’re qualified to do

73% expect they’ll need to pursue additional education or training to advance in their careers

44% say a flex schedule is their ideal work arrangement; 30% want to work remotely full time
